Year 6- Japan Class

Welcome to Year 6!

Year 6 is an exciting and important year in your child’s educational journey. As the final year of primary school, it’s a time for consolidating previous learning, exploring new topics, and preparing for the transition to secondary school. We aim to make this year both fun and rewarding, filled with engaging activities and valuable experiences. Alongside working hard to achieve their potential, children will have plenty of opportunities to develop their independence, teamwork, and confidence.

Other Key Information:

- Homework: Set on Mondays and due the following Monday. It will include spellings, grammar, and maths questions that link to what we’ve been learning in class.

- Spellings: Homework will include 14 spellings aligned with the national curriculum. Children are encouraged to learn the spellings and use them in sentences to understand their meanings. Spelling tests take place every Monday.

- Reading: Children are expected to read at least four times a week and record this in their reading records. Reading aloud with an adult and discussing the text is highly encouraged.

- PE: Takes place on Tuesday afternoons. Please ensure children come to school with their full PE kit each week. If there are any changes, children will be informed in advance.

- Emanuel School: On Friday afternoons, the children attend Emanuel School, where they enjoy a variety of enrichment activities such as Art and Drama.

If you ever have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to me before or after school, or contact me via Class Dojo. We’re looking forward to a fantastic year filled with learning, growth, and lots of fun!
