  • Welcome to our School

A warm welcome to Trinity St Mary’s CE Primary – thank you for coming to visit us online. If you are new to our community, we hope that our site provides you with a good flavour of what we are like and an introduction to our ethos, core values, policies and practices.

On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to Trinity St Mary’s or TSM, as we are affectionately known. Whether you are prospective parents searching for the right school for your child or ‘old friends’ wanting to find out more about our latest news and exciting developments, a school website is often the first reference point. I am sure you will find our website informative and inspiring.

If you have any questions about admissions processes, please contact the school office. We are happy to help. Guided tours, with either the Headteacher or Deputy Heateacher, take place throughout the school year with extra tours in the busy Autumn term. Our February 2024 OFSTED inspection was awarded a status of Good in recognition of the excellent education that we offer. Our April 2017 Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMS) awarded our school Good status overall, with our distinctive Christian character and the impact of collective worship on our school community being given Outstanding status.

TSM has been part of the community for 165 years and has served Balham’s children throughout those years. We are a small one-form entry school which allows my staff and I to build strong relationships with the children and the families who attend our school. We have created a safe, warm and friendly atmosphere where children flourish and grow. Our aim is that every child develops a love of learning, to become agents of, and for, change.

Our school boasts a fantastic staff including specialist teachers and lead practitioners. Whilst we maintain high standards of results at the end of a child's primary school journey, we also offer a creative and cross-curricular learning approach, as we are aware that every child has their own unique ability.

Our Christian ethos of nurturing minds, filling hearts and flourishing minds, is embedded within all aspects of our school life and all children who attend our school (no matter their religion) reflect on their learning, behaviour and how they can develop into global citizens. Our main values of Kindness, Unity and Courage are taught to children from Tiny TSM to Year 6. We use kindness to ensure all children, staff and governors are treated with respect, and we help those who are less fortunate. We are united together as a school and as a community to support everyone. We use courage when facing challenges in our lives, when we think we might fail and believe in ourselves when it’s time to move to a new year group or secondary school.

Please enjoy touring our website and if you feel we are the right school for your child and family, then please ring the main office to make an appointment for a personal tour. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you into our TSM family.

    Warmest regards,

    Lynn Anderson
